This is the first course of a sequenced set of two-semester courses, which introduces physician assistant students to the study of pharmacology. Emphasis has been placed on the integration of clinical applications of various medications as well as basic principles and biochemical properties. At the completion of these courses, students are expected to know the basic principles if pharmacology, which medications to prescribe in various clinical settings, and understand potential benefits, side effects, risks and relative costs.
