CSD 460 - Clinical Practicum in Speech Pathology I

Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor required; minimum GPA of 3.0; no more than 1 "C" in CSD courses; students must pass a speech screening; and completion of 15 hours of observation of ASHA certified speech-language pathologist.

Course Description: Students will conduct speech-language therapy in a supervised clinical environment. Students will learn to determine goals, write lesson plans, and develop appropriate intervention methods including the use of instrumentation as a therapeutic tool. Includes a two-hour weekly seminar where self-assessment through the use of videotapes is emphasized. Five hours of observation followed by 25 hours of direct client contact.
