ENV 296U - Topic: Environmental Aspects of Biotechnology

Course Description: This independent study course offers an in-depth examination of the debate concerning the environmental impact of bioengineered crops in agriculture. These are crops that have been genetically modified, using recently developed methods of molecular genetics. In many cases genes from unrelated organisms have been inserted into the crop genome, producing new genetic combinations, and questions have been raised regarding the ultimate effects of such crops in the environment.
