Course Description: This course will explore the history of the United States from colonial times to about 1865. The English course will use literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama) from this period or set in this period to explore the individual experiences within the historical period being studied. Within the learning community, special emphasis will be placed on the history and literature dealing with the religious findings of America, and, then, later in the term, on the history and literature dealing with the reform movements of abolitionism. |
