PUB 618 - Legal Aspects of Publishing

Course Description: This course introduces the student to copyright and literary property rights, publishing contracts, First Amendment considerations in publishing, the publishing torts (including libel, invasion of privacy, and right of publicity), and legal considerations in advertising, marketing, and distribution of books and magazines. Students will participate in comprehensive discussions and debates surrounding current legal issues facing the book and magazine publishing industries.
