The MPA Public Administration program offers concentrations that prepare students for managerial careers in government, health care, and the nonprofit sector, three of the fastest-growing areas of the national economy. Students typically complete the 39-45 credit program in 18 to 24 months of full-time study or three years of part-time study, including foundational preparation of managerial, quantitative, financial, and analytical skills.
Also available is a dual-degree MPA/JD program of 127 credits with Pace University School of Law, typically completed in four years of full-time study. For eligibility requirements for this program, contact the MPA program director.
The MPA program has a Center for Health Care Policy Education and Research which since 1996 has sponsored bi-annual conferences on key issues in health care. MPA students are invited to attend at no charge.
The MPA program has a connection with the Edwin G. Michaelian Institute for Public Policy and Management, located in White Plains. This institute conducts studies on and for local governments and nonprofit organizations, offers executive and management training, and holds workshops and conferences concerning public policy. Very important, it places students in internships with governmental and nonprofit agencies.

MASTER’S DEGREE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
The M.P.A. curriculum consists of 39-45 credits including core, track, and
elective and specialization courses. Four tracks are available. To prepare for the MPA degree, students must take an additional six pre-core foundation credits or obtain waivers from the department chairperson based on documented proficiency in these areas.
The graduate student may choose to engage in full-time or part-time study in the M.P.A. program. Full-time students can complete the degree in two years, and the part-time student typically needs four years. Both time periods may be shortened by advanced credit from other graduate institutions, waiver of pre-core courses with prior experience or background, and summer graduate study at Pace.
During the first year of study students should focus on completing their core requirements before selecting track or elective courses.
