The Internet has revolutionized the way business is conducted. Students can move their careers ahead through this innovative and interdisciplinary program that provides students with a solid foundation in Internet Technology and specialization in a complementary discipline or emerging technology. It prepares them to perform well in today's business environment.
Upon completion of core requirements, students declare a 9-credit knowledge area in Internet Technology for e-Commerce, Security and Information Assurance, Open Source Application Development, Network Administration, or Telecommunications Management. A 6-credit capstone project integrating all that the student has learned completes the program.
Both the Internet Technology for e-Commerce and Security and Information Assurance course sequences can be completed online.
Students without undergraduate preparation in a computer-related field may begin their core requirements upon admission; prerequisite course work in the knowledge area may be required.

Currently, both the Internet Technology for e-Commerce and Security and Information Assurance programs are available online. In addition, all knowledge areas are offered as independent advanced certificate programs with the addition of IT 600 Overview of Computer Networks & Internet Technology and an IT elective. A student who wishes to continue on in the M.S. in IT after completing one of the advanced certificate programs will be able to do so, provided all other admission requirements are satisfied. An additional course beyond those required for both the certificate and the degree is required. |
