Undergraduate

Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Communications, BA

Within the last 10 years, there have been major breakthroughs in how we communicate. Most people do not realize that there is an art in how we impart information and ideas to the world. Our Bachelor of Arts in Communications program on the Pleasantville campus challenges you to tap into your creative side and find innovative ways to further this rapidly growing field. You will focus on media production, media studies, journalism, film studies, or speech performance in order to develop real-world, practical skills. Our media production lab is equipped with AVID editing systems, professional DVC PRO digital video cameras, digital audio production and editing equipment, a screening room with 92”-digital projection system, and an electronic voice/data classroom.

A required internship is an important feature of the program, enabling you to earn academic credit as well as develop valuable professional skills and make industry contacts. A few of our recent internship placements include MTV, Fox Television, and Sports Illustrated. Eligible students may join the Mu Iota Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the student organization of the National Communication Association.

An opportunity to enroll in an accelerated dual-degree program – B.A. Communications/J.D. Law - is available to qualified majors. Interested students should meet with a departmental advisor early in their first year of study.
