Psychologists study the complex world of human nature scientifically, through testing hypotheses about behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Our accelerated dual-degree program - Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling – offers qualified student majors the opportunity to apply the scientific knowledge they’ve learned to human relationships in the areas of general counseling, substance abuse counseling, and loss and grief counseling. By earning these two degrees, you will have the background and credentials needed to enter these fields and begin helping people right away.
With additional paid work experience in the field, you will be eligible for New York State certification in mental health counseling, including substance abuse counseling.
Upon completion of your junior year and 78 undergraduate credits, you may apply to our 176-credit program. To qualify for acceptance you must have an overall QPA of at least 3.0, a QPA of at least 3.3 in the Psychology major, one semester of psychology practicum, and two letters of recommendation from your psychology professors.
