Professionals entering today's global economy require a well-rounded business education that fuses
contemporary disciplines with international applications and hands-on experience. As a result, Pace University's Lubin School of Business is committed to providing global learning opportunities for all
graduate and undergraduate students.
In addition to a full slate of long-term study abroad programs, Lubin provides unique opportunities for students to gain short-term international academic experience through fully credited BBA and MBA courses. International Field Study Courses are organized by the Lubin Center for Global Business Programs in cooperation with the Departments of Accounting, Finance & Economics, Legal Studies & Taxation, Management, and Marketing. Students attend classes, interact with professors, tour company facilities, meet with governmental leaders and participate in roundtable workshops conducted by globally recognized academics—all in an informal educational setting.
Most International Field Study Courses are scheduled during spring break, winter break, or during summer months. Courses include pre-trip classroom instruction, followed by 10-14 days of on-site workshops led by full-time Lubin faculty. Students earn full academic credit for all International Field Study Courses.

Fall 2012 FIELD STUDIES

Traveling January 7 - January 17, 2013
The International Marketing Field Trip to Brussels and London will study the effects of European integration and culture on marketing activities in Europe, the marketing activities of US firms in the EU, and the future of the European Union. Students will meet with business executives, educators, and government officials to discuss international marketing and business practices. Students will study cultural values and norms in Belgium and England and participate in various cultural activities. In addition to classroom presentations by representatives of international organizations and companies, students with be provided with readings, case studies and other instructional material via Blackboard. Traveling January 7 - January 17, 2013
The primary objective of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the Indian economy, with a focus on marketing as it applies to modern India, keeping in mind the infrastructure and developments in the fields of information technology, i.e., software, higher educa-tion, retailing, and entrepreneurship to name a few. This year, the group will be visiting Mumbai in the west and Bangalore in the south. Students will also meet with foreign business managers, educators, and government officials to discuss contemporary issues and business practices. In addition, students will study the cultural values and norms of India and participate in various cultural events and activities. The International Finance Field Study incorporates a trip to major international financial centers. While visiting Argentina and Chile, the students will attend seminars given by corporate and investment bankers, government officials, and other financial executives. The trip will emphasize the lessons that developed economies can learn from the Argentine crisis of early 2000s, and the differences between the Argentine and Chilean economic focus and development paths. The interrelation between Brazilian, Argentine and Chilean economies will also be discussed. Spring 2012 FIELD STUDIES

Traveling March 9 - March 18, 2012
This undergraduate course provides students an opportunity to have an interdisciplinary experi-ence in the study of business, energy, technology, urban planning and development as well as environmental issues in Brazil. Students will visit a variety of organizations which will include for profit and not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, and entrepreneurial organizations that demonstrate sustainable business and environmental practices. During class, students will research and report on various aspects of Brazil's economy, agriculture, business, environment, politics, and future in the global economy. Students will learn about the concept of environmental responsibility through community mapping projects in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest and about social responsibility through education projects with young children in Rio de Janeiro, Ihla Grande and Paraty, Brazil. This undergraduate and graduate course is about understanding and managing in different cultures, doing business across cultures, and managing multi-national business affairs in the context of the USA and China. Students will study cases and hear from experts and before visiting China. The trip includes visits to Shanghai and Beijing (and Hong Kong if time permits), including companies and cultural sites such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. This graduate course is a unique opportunity to learn about international accounting practices in China through an intensive study and travel trip to Beijing, Xi'An, and Shanghai. Students meet with business managers from international corporations, educators, and government officials to discuss contemporary issues and business practices related to accounting practices from a global perspective. Prior to departure, students attend regular accounting course sessions related to several international topics (including international financial reporting standards, international accounting comparative studies, and other topics.) Students will meet with business managers, educators, and government officials to discuss issues and business practices. Students will study the cultural values and norms of Sweden and Denmark and participate in various cultural events and activities. Blackboard will be used extensively to provide students with readings, case studies, and Web-assisted instructional materials. A research report incorporating the field experiences is due two weeks after the conclusion of the field study. Prior to the trip, students learn about the concepts and practice of the economics of microfinance, a revolutionary technique that has changed the life of many poor families in developing countries. Destinations include Chennai, Thanjavur and Pondicherry. This travel course is unique in many ways - in covering an exciting area of modern finance, in visiting a rural Indian locale to see the application of these financial ideas directly, in allowing students to participate personally in some of these ventures, and in introducing students to a historic part of south India that is not visited by many travelers to India.
