Professionals entering today's global economy require a well-rounded business education that fuses
contemporary disciplines with international applications and hands-on experience. As a result, Pace University's Lubin School of Business is committed to providing global learning opportunities for all
graduate and undergraduate students.
In addition to a full slate of long-term study abroad programs, Lubin provides unique opportunities for students to gain short-term international academic experience through fully credited BBA and MBA courses. International Field Study Courses are organized by the Lubin Center for Global Business Programs in cooperation with the Departments of Accounting, Finance & Economics, Legal Studies & Taxation, Management, and Marketing. Students attend classes, interact with professors, tour company facilities, meet with governmental leaders and participate in roundtable workshops conducted by globally recognized academics—all in an informal educational setting.
Most International Field Study Courses are scheduled during spring break, winter break, or during summer months. Courses include pre-trip classroom instruction, followed by 10-14 days of on-site workshops led by full-time Lubin faculty. Students earn full academic credit for all International Field Study Courses.

Fall 2013 FIELD STUDIES

Traveling January 6 - January 16, 2014
The international marketing field study to Brussels and London will study the effects of European integration and culture on marketing activities in Europe, the marketing activities of US firms in the EU, and the future of the European Union. Students will meet with business executives, educators, and government officials to discuss international marketing and business practices. Students will study cultural values and norms in Belgium and England and participate in various cultural activities. In addition to classroom presentations by representatives of international organizations and companies, students will be provided with readings, case studies and other instructional material via Blackboard. Traveling January 7 - January 17, 2014
This course will look at the practice of microfinance in India. Microfinance is a relatively new but fast-growing technique that has changed the life of many poor families in developing countries like Bangladesh as well as in developed countries like the US. Prior to the trip, students will learn about the economics and the practice of microfinance. Trip destinations will include Mumbai and the southern state of Kerala. This travel course promises to be unique in many ways - in covering an exciting area of modern finance, in visiting both urban and rural Indian locales to see the application of these financial ideas directly, in allowing students to participate personally in some of these ventures, and in introducing students to a historic and beautiful part of south India that is not visited by many travelers. Known as the 'Tiger Cub of Asia', Vietnam's economy has experienced an unprecedented amount of growth over the last few years. On this field study, students will have a unique opportunity to learn about a country in transition from a closed economy to a socialist market economy while keeping its political system. Students will meet with foreign business managers, educators, and government officials to discuss contemporary issues and business practices related to marketing. In addition, students will study the cultural values and norms of Vietnam and their relation to consumer behavior. Spring 2013 FIELD STUDIES

Traveling March 22 - March 31, 2013
This travel course is about understanding and managing in different cultures, doing business across cultures, and managing multi-national business affairs in the context of the USA and China. We will study cases and hear from experts before traveling to China. The trip will include visits to Shanghai and Beijing (and Hong Kong if time permits), including companies and cultural sites such as the Great Wall and Forbidden City. Traveling March 22 - March 31, 2013
This course is an interdisciplinary experience in the study of business, energy, technology, urban planning, and development as well as environmental issues in Brazil. Students will visit a variety of organizations, including for profit and not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, and entrepreneurial organizations that demonstrate sustainable business and environmental practices. During class, students will research and report on various aspects of Brazil's economy, agriculture, business, environment, politics, and future in the global economy. Students will learn about the concept of environmental responsibility through community mapping projects in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest and about social responsibility through education projects with young children in Rio de Janeiro, Ihla Grande and Paraty, Brazil. Traveling May 17 - May 25, 2013
This international field study course focuses on the financial environment in Paris and London. Prior to leaving for the trip, students will attend classes to discuss the topics that will be covered during the field study. Particular emphasis will be placed on the financial distress facing European countries and the many issues related to the stability of the euro. While in Paris and London, the students will visit financial institutions, corporations, and government entities. The course will also highlight the differences in business models between the countries. Students will also have some time built into the schedule to visit major cultural sites in Paris and London.
