Anthony J. Leo '15 Receives Fulbright Award

Congratulations to finance student Anthony J. Leo! Anthony has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Award for 2015-2016. He will be pursuing a research study grant in Albania, focusing on the barriers to foreign direct investment (FDI). The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program of the United States. Students selected for this program represent the country as a cultural ambassador while overseas. Anthony is the 43rd Pace student to be awarded a Fulbright since 2002 and the only awardee this year.

Sports World Alumnus Visits PLV Campus
On April 16, Barry Klarberg '81, '85, CEO and founder, Monarch Business and Wealth Management, visited the Pleasantville campus. As an Executive in Residence, Klarberg discussed strategies for managing athletes and entertainers and shared his knowledge and experiences in the sports industry. Mr. Klarberg is also serving as Lubin's first Lecturer in Residence. As a Lecturer in Residence, Mr. Klarberg brings his expertise to Lubin students as a guest lecturer in classes covering arts and entertainment management, sports marketing, and taxation.

  [Dean Braun Wins Corporate Social Responsibility Award]
New York media company, City & State, announced Dean Neil Braun as a winner of its prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility award for New York's Law, Consulting & Business Services Sector. Dean Braun received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Promoting Environmental Sustainability through Education & Applied Management. As one of ten awardees selected following a public nomination process, Dean Braun was presented with his award on April 22 at a special breakfast ceremony at Baruch College.

Marc DeBevoise, EVP and GM, Entertainment, News and Sports, CBS Interactive (CBSi), visited Lubin as an Executive in Residence on March 25. He lectured on the evolving landscape of digital content, and shared how CBSi's approach to the release of digital content including content diversification and accessibility across all digital platforms is driving CBS' total viewership growth. A second annual "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was held on February 27 hosted by Ralph Nicoletti '82, EVP and CFO, Tiffany & Co. Almost 100 Lubin students attended the event and gained an overview of the company's history, financials, corporate strategy/marketing, and its main product lines.

Pleasantville Student Organizations Send Boxes
to U.S. Troops

[Pleasantville Student Organizations Send Boxes to U.S. Troops]
The Accounting Society, the Lubin Business Association, and the Student Veterans Club in Pleasantville collected items to send to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Over 20 large boxes were mailed to soldiers on April 13. The content of the boxes included snacks, socks, and toiletry essentials, which were donated by faculty and students. Promotional items such as water bottles, ear buds, and mini first-aid kits were provided by accounting firms. The Pace student organizations have thanked the Pace community for making this initiative an amazing success. Plans are currently underway to send boxes to troops again during the Fall 2015 semester.

Bill Shore, CEO and founder, Share Our Strength, joined the long list of Henry George Distinguished Speakers on April 8 on the New York City campus. Shore is an author of four books focused on social change. He was named one of America's Best Leaders by US News & World Report, and as the founder of the national nonprofit organization, Share Our Strength, has been working with the purpose of ending childhood hunger in America with the support of national leaders in business, government, health and education, sports, and entertainment.

GroupM Competition
GroupM Business Science and the Lubin School of Business partnered to host the Second Annual Marketing Analytics Case Competition in April. Four talented student teams competed to present solutions to real-world business questions and were evaluated by a panel of expert judges from GroupM, Pace University, and the Ad Council. The first-place team, which consisted of Stephanie Auito, Anuska Ramkisoon, and Yi Shen, received interviews for internships and full-time positions at GroupM.

The Ernst & Young Fund for Excellence in Accounting Education was established by Ernst & Young LLP to promote educational excellence in accounting at Pace University. The Fund provides scholarship awards of $5,000 each to outstanding students who are enrolled in Lubin in a qualified accounting program and maintain a 3.30 GPA. Students eligible for these awards must demonstrate involvement and leadership in either co-curricular activities at Pace or service organizations in their local community or high school. > Apply before the May 7 deadline.

The Eleventh Annual Pace Pitch Contest was held on April 16. The contest is based on the Elevator Pitch concept popular in the venture capital community. Finalists had three minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of prestigious judges for a chance to win cash prizes. The first place winner is Alexa McKenna (Lubin EaTcard); the second place winners are Julie Gauthier and Olga Bogomolova (Seidenberg - Codapillar); and the third place winners are Robin Williams Jr. and Robert Huguenot (Dyson - RamPak). [Beta Alpha Psi's Winning Streak Continues]
Beta Alpha Psi's Iota Lambda chapter continues to excel! At this year's Beta Alpha Psi Atlantic Coast Regional Conference, the chapter won first place in the Effective Operations category, and third place in the International Impact category. The chapter will move on to compete nationally at the annual Beta Alpha Psi National Conference on August 6 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Effective Operations category.

The Pace Ad Teams in New York and Pleasantville presented comprehensive marketing campaigns for Pizza Hut to the American Advertising Federation (AAF) on April 18 and 19, respectively. This annual National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) is a real-world case where students present to top industry professionals including client representatives. Comments from the judges included "clearly a lot of good thinking went into this campaign and plans book" and "very enthusiastic presenters with lots of confidence." This event prepares Lubin students for diverse careers in the marketing communications business.

The Pace Mobile App Design Contest 3.0 was held on March 27. The contest began with an all-day hackathon in the Entrepreneurship Lab, an event in which computer programmers, and others involved in software development, collaborate intensively on software projects. Registered teams had three minutes to demonstrate their mobile application to a broad audience and experts for a chance to win cash prizes. The first place winners are Shane Duda, Jonathan Yung, and Wei Xia (Crime Scan); second place winners are Giuseppe DiMeglio, Julie Gauthier, and Alexa McKenna (Jamz); and third place winners are Sukun Li, Bo Liu, and Ni Mei (Go Go Feed). The Lubin Spring Banquet, an annual event produced by student business organizations, was hosted on April 10 at the Dream Downtown Hotel. The evening served as an opportunity to educate, inspire, and unite the Lubin community. The theme of this year's event was the power of relationships in business. The speaker, Pace alumna Rachel Aschalew, vice president, Casa Group Marketing, LLC, spoke of how her relationships with people helped her succeed in her career.

This semester, Lubin students are learning about global economies by
traveling abroad. Through field study trips, students traveled to Brazil and China over the spring break. Trips to Denmark, Sweden, London, and Brussels will be happening this May. Students will visit corporations, government agencies, NGOs, and universities. Fall 2015 field study trips will be offered to London, Brussels, Japan, and India. Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 are available to qualified students.

Jason Drattell '85, founder, Praesidian Capital - a private investment firm focused on middle market businesses in the US and Europe - is a member of the Lubin Advisory Board. Encouraged by his wife, Maria, a fellow entrepreneur, he established Praesidian Capital in 2002 after working for over 20 years in the finance industry.
