The 15th Annual Lubin School of Business Golf Classic will be held at Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, Long Island, on Tuesday, May 28. This event is always popular with alumni and friends. In addition to a competitive round of golf, the outing includes brunch, a cocktail reception, dinner, a silent auction and raffles. The Lubin Golf Classic supports scholarships for Lubin undergraduate students and special projects to enhance Lubin's competitive standing with other leading business schools. GroupM Business Science and the Lubin School of Business partnered to host the Second Annual Marketing Analytics Case Competition in March 2013. Four talented student teams competed to present solutions to real-world business questions and were evaluated by a panel of expert judges from GroupM, Pace University, and the Ad Council. The first-place team, which consisted of Andrew Burakov, Han Yan, Xin Tang, and Yucheng Xiang, received interviews for internships and full-time positions at GroupM.

Pace University's signature fundraising gala, the Spirit of Pace Awards Dinner, will take place on Wednesday, June 26, at the Central Park Zoo in New York City. This year's event will honor Andrew Mathias, President of SL Green Realty Corp. Michael Szenberg, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Economics, will be awarded the Homer and Charles Pace Faculty Award for his profound impact on the lives of Pace alumni. Proceeds from the event will provide support for the Student Scholarship Program and special projects selected by President Friedman. [Ernst & Young Scholarship]
The Ernst & Young Fund for Excellence in Accounting Education was established by Ernst & Young LLP to promote educational excellence in accounting at Pace University. The Fund provides scholarship awards of $5,000 each to outstanding students who are enrolled in the Lubin School of Business in a qualified accounting program and maintain a 3.30 GPA. Students eligible for these awards must demonstrate involvement and leadership in either co-curricular activities at Pace or service organizations in their local community or high school. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 10, 2013.

The Ninth Annual Pace Pitch Contest was held on April 18. The contest is based on the Elevator Pitch concept popular in the venture capital community. Six finalists had three minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of prestigious judges for a chance to win cash prizes. The first place winner is Christian Velez (Nuque Tie New York); the second place winner is Geordi Taylor (B100 Production Facility); and the third place winner is Javier Dutan (Nova Software). In direct alignment with the entrepreneurial theme for the evening, the winner of the 10th Annual Pace Business Plan Competition was announced. Sara Shikhman
After practicing law for six years, Sara Shikhman, '03, saw an opportunity in online retail and seized it by starting a successful entrepreneurial venture with three other Pace alumni. Now Sara is the President of BedroomFurnitureDiscounts.com, a leading online retailer of home furnishings in New York, with sales of $8 million in 2012. Sara is also an Entrepreneurship Lab Alumni Mentor and will be giving a talk on "Search Engine Marketing on a Bootstrap Budget" in the Lab on April 29. Find out more about Sara here.

On April 2, 2013, Mario Mercurio, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Franchise Business Unit (FBU) of Pepsi-Cola North America Beverages, lectured to students on the Pleasantville campus. His presentation, "The Pepsi Cola Story: Perfomance with Purpose," showed the timeline and development of the Pepsi brand, as well as the power of connecting the product to its stakeholders. An audience member asks the Overdraft panelists about solving the American debt crisis.
On March 13, Pace University and the Travelers Institute presented a symposium and screening of Overdraft, a one-hour documentary made for public television that presents a compelling explanation of America's federal debt crisis, how it impacts American lives, and choices to address the problem. Following the screening, faculty experts from Pace participated in a panel discussion along with a special guest from the Travelers Institute to examine this topic. The screening was part of the Travelers Institute's national Overdraft University Symposia Series. Students were encouraged to think critically about potential policy solutions and their implications for the American opportunity. Field Study Trips Offer International Perspectives
Lubin students in Chile
During the spring 2013 semester, 46 Lubin students were able to experience and understand global economies outside of the classroom through international field study trips to Brazil, China, France and England, and were in positions to network with senior business officials and gain closer insight into foreign economies. In fall 2012, a record number of 63 Lubin students traveled to London and Brussels, India, and Argentina and Chile. Over the course of the academic year, 24 students have been awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,500 or $2,000 for Lubin field study courses. The Future of Chinese Financial Markets
On April 3, the Confucius Institute and The Center For Global Business Programs hosted Dr. Michael A. Santoro, a world renowned business ethics teacher, scholar, and consultant. Dr. Santoro is also the author of China 2020 and Wall Street Values. During his speech, Dr. Santoro provided useful insights on the condition of financial markets in China. He also spoke about business ethics and the global financial crisis. Attendance at the event consisted of French students from Grenoble Ecole de Management and Lubin students.

The Executive MBA at Lubin is a hybrid program combining online-supported learning with intensive quarterly, weekend residencies. The program is designed for experienced managers and professionals. Out of Three!
Lubin's Iota Lambda Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) participated in all three Best Practices Competitions - Innovation, Inspiration and Imagination - at the BAP Annual Northeast Regional Conference. The chapter won first place in Innovation and Imagination, and second place in Inspiration, and was also ranked as the number one winning chapter at the conference.
