The Village of Irvington is part of the Plus One ADU Program. No more than 50 accessory apartment special permits can be in existence at one time, and this number may not be varied by the Zoning Board of Appeals. No permit shall be granted until the structure in its present size has been in existence for 5 years. The permit is valid for 3 years. The accessory apartment must be located in the principal building or in a permitted accessory structure. The maximum percentage of floor space of the principal dwelling that the accessory apartment can be varies by district. Additionally, the regulation includes specifications on application requirements, information, fees, change in ownership, parking requirements, and more.
