Kessel - Butcher Suite
Pleasantville Campus

The event will be held on Thursday, October 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Kessel Student Center's Butcher Suite. All That Breathes follows Nadeem Shehzad and Muhammad Saud, two brothers who, against seemingly insurmountable odds, rescue injured birds of prey in their teeming city of Delhi, India. Nadeem and Saud took in their first Black Kite - the ubiquitous raptor of Delhi - in 2003. Although they had no facilities, limited funds, and zero avian knowledge, they decided they could no longer walk by the fallen raptors lying crumpled and ignored on the ground. Today they have moved to a larger space, built a rooftop aviary, and hired a full-time veterinarian as well as two helpers. In 2022 alone they took in 2,387 birds of 42 species, including many threatened or endangered. Experience the documentary that won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary (World Cinema) at Sundance and the L'OEil d'or for Best Documentary at Cannes, plus 18 others before becoming an Academy Award finalist. Following the screening, both Nadeem and Saud will join the event to answer questions about the film and their work protecting the Black Kite.
