SUBJECT: MBA
COURSE NUMBER: 647
SECTION TITLE: Decision Modeling for Management
CAMPUS: New York City
SCHEDULE TYPE: Lecture
REQUIRED MATERIAL: 1) The text we used for MBA646 has almost all the topics we will cover in this course. Thus, you don’t have to buy another text, but you will need that text. It is "Business Analytics: Data Analysis and Decision Making", Fifth Edition, by Albright and Winston, Cengage Learning, 2015. I will supply additional readings (notes), problems, cases, solutions, etc. on Blackboard. 2) Software. Since we are using the computer to model the problems and find solutions, we will work with the Palisade Decision Tools Suite (the Excel add-in software used in MBA646). Thus, for our statistical needs we will use StatTools. We will also use @Risk to do simulation. You should still have this software from your MBA646 course. If not, you must buy The Decision Tools Suite Professional Student Version, which costs $50 and is available directly from Palisade Software, http://www.palisade.com/academic/students.asp and lasts for one year. 3) You must have your own laptop computer with Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 (For you MAC users, the software will run in the Windows emulation mode using Parallels or Emulator-go to the DOIT people on the second floor for information about those emulators and installing them on your MAC). You will also need the Windows version of Microsoft Office (Office 2013) installed. Of course, you must have internet access. On Blackboard, you will find readings and notes, data for all the class examples, homework problems, cases, and the solutions to all of the problems, but the solutions to the cases will not be posted (we will discuss these in class). If you are still using Office 2010, fuhgeddaboudit, you must upgrade to a later version (Office 2013 is free from Pace!)
