[Lubin Welcomes Its First Mentor in Residence]  
Alumnus and trustee Edward F. Murphy '74 is Lubin's first Mentor in Residence. The Mentor in Residence program brings alumni senior executives to campus to engage with students. Mr. Murphy has had a long and distinguished career spanning 40 years and has banking, finance and regulatory expertise. Besides holding leadership positions in financial firms such as JP Morgan Chase, Mr. Murphy is also the former chief financial officer and executive vice president of the Corporate Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Robert J. Chersi '83 has been named Executive Director of the Center for Global Governance, Reporting and Regulation. Mr. Chersi is a former CFO and member of the Executive Committee at Fidelity Investments. He is an accomplished corporate financial and risk executive who has worked at finance, risk and compliance organizations, and he has served on many industry committees and associations.

On Tuesday, April 29, Dean Neil Braun, hosted an invitation-only Alumni Networking Reception and CFO Panel Discussion at the 21 Club in midtown Manhattan. Alumni leaders had an opportunity to connect with one another while engaging in a meaningful discussion about regulation, globalization and other issues affecting the CFO role in today's economy. Robert Chersi '83, former CFO, Fidelity Investments and executive director, Lubin's Center for Global Governance, Reporting and Regulation, served as moderator. Panelists included: Fred Donner '84, senior vice president, CFO and COO, Business Insurance, Travelers Companies, Inc.; Thomas "Todd" Gibbons '86, vice chairman and CFO, BNY Mellon; William Janetschek '93, CFO, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company; and Joseph Sparacio '82, executive vice president and CFO, IMAX Corporation.

Doug Herzog, president, Viacom Entertainment Group, visited Lubin as an Executive in Residence on April 10. Dean Neil Braun sat down with Mr. Herzog for a Q&A session in front of a packed house of students and faculty. Mr. Herzog also spoke with a select group of Business Honors Program students, performing arts students and student leaders about emerging trends in television.

The Tenth Annual Pace Pitch Contest was held on April 17. The contest is based on the elevator pitch concept popular in the venture capital community. Seven finalists had three minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of prestigious judges for a chance to win cash prizes. The first place winner is Paige Cecchi (SheerStock); the second place winners are Camille Hugh and Patrick Roche (The Interview Master); and the third place winners are Kumesh Aroomogan and Anshul Vikram Pandey (Accern). Congratulations to all of the winners!

Outstanding doctoral, master's and baccalaureate students were honored in New York City and Westchester this month at Lubin's Awards and Beta Gamma Sigma Induction Ceremonies. One hundred and twenty-four students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the preeminent international honor society in business. Ashutosh Rathor '01, partner, Media and Entertainment, Ernst & Young, LLP, was honored as the Beta Gamma Sigma Pace chapter honoree on the New York City campus, and Kevin Bolen '95, managing director, Strategic Investments and Growth Initiatives, KPMG LLP, was honored as the Beta Gamma Sigma Pace chapter honoree on the Westchester campus.

[Student Managed Investment Portfolio Yields 39%]
Lubin's Student Managed Investment Portfolio placed first in the "Undergraduate Growth" category at the Global Asset Management Education Forum in March. The SMIP's 39% return in calendar year 2013, outperformed the returns of its benchmark indices (Dow Jones-26%, S&P 500-30%, NASDAQ-38%). Kudos to Professor Ron Filante and his students who managed the portfolio.

In April, the American Marketing Association (AMA) presented Dennis M. Sandler, PhD, (marketing), with a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his time and commitment as an AMA collegiate faculty advisor. The award is bestowed on esteemed collegiate chapter faculty advisors who have contributed significantly to the AMA Collegiate Division for at least 20 years.

Lubin's Iota Lambda chapter of Beta Alpha Psi held its first Accounting, Auditing and Reporting event on April 21. Current trends in the sector and related career implications were discussed. Speakers included Leslie Seidman, executive director, Lubin's new Center for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and Mark Besca '81, chairman, Pace Board of Trustees and NYC Office managing partner, Ernst & Young, LLP.

Beta Alpha Psi's (BAP) Iota Lambda chapter continues to excel at BAP Annual Regional Meetings. At this year's conference, the chapter won first place in the Collaboration category, second place in the Leadership category, and third place in the Strategic Planning category. Lubin was the only school to place in all three categories.

The Great Lubin Gala, also known as the Lubin Spring Banquet, took place on April 23 at the Broad Street Ballroom. Speakers included Dean Neil Braun, Michael Kors' client retention specialist Melissa Carter and fashion entrepreneur April Bukofser '03. The theme was "Dress For Success," and the event offered students insight into how to present themselves in the workforce.

On April 8, Career Services, ALPFA, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, the Lubin Graduate Society and Lubin sponsored an Alumni Mentorship and Networking Dinner. Dina Fontanetta '05, vice president and project manager, BNY Mellon, was the keynote speaker. Students had an opportunity to network with recent and experienced career professionals who work at firms such as BNY Mellon, PwC and Deloitte.

Joseph C. DiBenedetto, JD, CPA, CMA (accounting), is the 2014 recipient of the Homer and Charles Pace Faculty Award. For more than 40 years, Professor DiBenedetto has been a dedicated educator to countless students in Pleasantville and New York City. He will be formally recognized at the Spirit of Pace Awards Dinner on Wednesday, June 18 at the American Museum of Natural History. At the dinner, Joseph R. Ficalora '79, president, CEO and director, New York Community Bancorp, Inc. will receive the Leaders in Management Award and Carll Tucker, founder, chairman and CEO, Daily Voice, LLC will receive the Innovator Award. NEW BBA in Sports Marketing

If you're interested in interning or working in the exciting world of sports, Lubin's new sports marketing concentration may be the answer. The BBA in Sports Marketing, which launches this fall, will help students gain an in-depth understanding of the business of sports.

New EMBA and DPS Cycles

The Executive MBA at Lubin is a hybrid program combining online learning with weekend residencies every ten weeks. The program is designed for experienced managers and professionals. The Executive Doctoral Program (DPS) allows students to continue full-time careers while developing their conceptual and analytical capability.
