Nobel Laureate on Globalization
[Dr. Joseph Stiglitz] Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel laureate in economics, will deliver the guest lecture on "Globalization and Its Discontents" at the 5th Annual Henry George Symposium. The symposium will be held at Pace's downtown New York City campus on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Dr. Robert Isaak, Henry George Professor of International Management, will introduce Dr. Stiglitz. Michael C. Koffler, CEO of MetSchools, Inc. will visit the New York City campus as an Executive in Residence on Thursday, November 18, 2004. The School of Education is partnering with Lubin for this visit. Koffler will speak with undergraduate and graduate students from both schools. Lubin Students Honored Will Study in Asia
[Taiwain] David Negard '04, has received a William J. Fulbright scholarship to study research in business for a year in Taiwan, with a University Affiliation. He majored in international management, with minors in Chinese and computer science. Gary Sefcik '05, a finance and economics major, was awarded the Freeman Foundation Asia Program Award. He will study and do research at Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand.

International Field Study to Japan
[Lubin Leaders and Scholars students in Japan]
The Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program (LLSP) took its inaugural international field study trip to Japan in August 2004, accompanied by Eric H. Kessler, director of the Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program and associate professor of management, and Stephen Blank, professor of management and international business. LLSP students from the New York City and Pleasantville campuses traveled to Tokyo, historic Kyoto, and Osaka to engage in corporate visits, meetings, and briefings.

Christine L. Sudlow, the new director of development and alumni relations for the Lubin School of Business, brings legal and development experience to her new position. Prior to assuming her new role she was a major gift officer with the University. "My main objective as the director of development for Lubin is to raise money for the construction of a new building for the School. Lubin deserves to have it's own front door."

Dr. Corinne Post, assistant professor of management, was honored by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Post received the 2004 Best Doctoral Dissertation Award for her dissertation, "Allocating Favorable Work Contexts in Industrial R&D: the Role of Race/Ethnicity, Gender, Family Characteristics, and Organizational Setting."

Bruce Bachenheimer
This fall the Lubin School of Business welcomes eight new faculty members. Bruce Bachenheimer, Clinical Professor of Management and Management Science. Bachenheimer's current research interests focus on entrepreneurial strategy and entrepreneurship education. Branko Bucar, Assistant Professor of Management and Management Science. Bucar is the author and co-author of a number of publications on entrepreneurship and related areas. Sertan Kabadayi, Visiting Lecturer, Marketing. Kabadayi's published research has focused on multiple channel configurations and strategies, buyer-seller relationships in electronic markets, and corporate social responsibility. Padma Kadiyala, Associate Professor of Finance. With research interests in information and stock returns, mutual funds, and corporate bond pricing, Kadiyala has published her work in finance and business journals. Qi Lu, Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance. Lu's research interests focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and market reaction to various managerial decisions. Merav Ozair, Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting. Ozair's research interests include equity valuation, financial reporting and analysis, performance measurements and managerial incentives, as well as earnings measurements and management. Xiaofei Song, Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting. Song's research interests include analyst forecasts, financial reporting, non-financial measures, and corporate governance. Ibraiz Tarique, Assistant Professor of Management. His published research is focused on international human resource management and cross-cultural issues.

The restructured Center for International Business Development, and its new director, Professor Linda Sama, together with Professor Pradeep Gopalakrishna, are offering a new International Marketing Field Study to Brussels and London. Scheduled for January 10 19, 2005, the trip will allow students to learn about European Union influences on marketing strategies U.S firms use in Europe.

[MBA Career Day] MBA Career Day
On Thursday, October 28, 2004, the Lubin Graduate Society (LGS) and Career Services are hosting their inaugural MBA Career Day for current graduate students as well as graduate Lubin alumni. This event, to be held in the Multipurpose Room on the downtown New York City campus from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will give students and alumni a chance to meet with over 20 employers and explore full-time career opportunities.
