Lubin today announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration, co-branding its new Master's Degree in Social Media and Mobile Marketing with Media Storm, the second-largest independent media planning and buying agency in the U.S., working with such clients as MTV, FOX, CMT, Starz, Sundance Channel, and Food Network. The co-branded MS degree program (#PaceMediaStormMS) begins in January 2015 and is designed for marketing managers, advertising executives, and aspiring communications professionals who want to develop their skills in digital marketing and gain exposure to the latest techniques in the industry.

"Pace University has long been a leader in experiential learning, and we are thrilled to take a step further with this unique collaboration with a leading industry practitioner," said Dean Neil Braun. "Social media and mobile technology have fundamentally transformed our culture," said Jon Cropper, architect of the collaboration, and Resident Futurist at Media Storm. Pace and Media Storm launched their collaboration at Pace's Schimmel Center (home of the famed Actors Studio Program) and previewed the program with an event featuring Internet star Daria Musk. Using Google+'s video chat feature "Hangouts" to perform live concerts online, Musk's music went viral. Now she has more than 3.5 million fans on Google+ and more than 44 million views. Leslie Seidman, executive director of Lubin's Center for Excellence in Financial Reporting, collaborated with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) to host the first-ever Women's Accounting Leadership Series event in New York City on October 15. A select group of Pace alumnae in the accounting profession, Lubin accounting professors, and student leaders attended expert-led sessions on leadership skills, new Financial Accounting Standards Board guidelines, and recent developments in auditing. "We were honored to host the pilot for the Women's Accounting Leadership Series here at Pace University," said Leslie Seidman. "Participants from all levels of their accounting careers discussed current business issues as well as career issues. IMA and Pace are committed to continuing to provide a forum for women to learn from each other and experts about how to succeed in accounting and finance roles in corporate America."

Lubin students Kimisei Miyake, Gianna Khader, Anthony Fanelli, Freskida Gjokaj, Antonella Aceto, Alex Rough, DanDand Lu, Hantze Toureau, Amy Chen, Meghan Boyle, and Stephanie Deodat are recent recipients of the Ernst & Young Scholarship award. A scholarship dinner was held September 23 to celebrate the students and their accomplishments. The Ernst & Young Fund for Excellence in Accounting Education provides awards of $5,000 each to outstanding Lubin students in a qualified undergraduate or graduate accounting program. Ernst & Young LLP established the scholarship fund in 2010 to promote educational excellence in accounting at Pace. To date, over $310,000 has been donated by Ernst & Young and its employees to the scholarship fund.

Collegiate Echo Challenge winners
At the 2014 Marketing EDGE Collegiate Echo Challenge, a prestigious annual international competition recognized by direct and interactive marketing industry executives, Lubin students Alisha Frederick, Amy Hashem, Scott Levine, and Xinyuan Wu received first-place gold in the graduate division, while Joseph Lagrutta and Jessica Yoguez won an honorable mention for market research. Two other Lubin teams were selected as semifinalists from more than 200 entries. The undergraduate semifinalist team from Lubin's Interactive and Direct Marketing (IDM) Lab was headed by Emileigh Beauregard with IDM team members Elena Baez and Michael Fortunas. The students' challenge was to develop an integrated digital and traditional marketing plan for acquiring new Domino's Pizza customers.

Dr. Surendra K. Kaushik
[Surendra K. Kaushik]
Surendra Kaushik, PhD, professor of Finance, and founder of the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women's College in India, passed away in his hometown on July 30. Dr. Kaushik created the school, named for his wife, to promote women's empowerment through education. Pace and the Kaushik family held a memorial service in his honor on Sunday, October 5, at Pace's Graduate Center in White Plains, NY.
